Self Controlled Real Life Mario Kart
Making Intelligent Things (CS-358)
View on GitHubCreated a real-life version of Mario Kart using a laser-cut circuit and RC cars built from scratch with custom 3D printed parts and electronic components. An iOS app tracks the cars from above the circuit and sends tracking information to a custom server. The server uses an algorithm to enable the cars to self-drive and be aware of their surroundings, allowing them to pass other cars. Power-ups are detected by a color sensor on the bottom of the cars. Players can control the cars using PS4, Xbox, and Switch controllers, competing against other players or the algorithm-driven cars. Each car has cameras mounted for live-streaming their POV on a custom-built server.
